This appears to be the very first serial number motor of this type to be imported into the US from England.  It uses a Villiers engine and has the capability of driving a boat via the straight shaft drive, or it could be used to pump water by replacing the propeller shaft assembly with a water pump.  I purchased this outboard and waterpump from a collector in NJ in 1975.  I first ran it in 1976 and occasionally ever since.
